Ranking The 10 Best Disney & Pixar Films Since 2000
8. The Incredibles
Whilst now superheroes are everywhere, back in 2004 the craze was in its infancy and there was a growing market for such stories. Then, along came Pixar.
The Incredibles debuted to incredible (pardon the pun) reviews and a whopping box-office haul of over $600 million, against a production budget of around $92 million. Whilst it remains a fantastic film, the story follows some old movie tropes that can't be unnoticed, especially upon subsequent viewings.
The memes, the quotes, the merchandise that The Incredibles gave to the world are still an example for any animation company on how quality can lead to vast sums of money and praise. The film's 97% RT score speaks to that.
It took Brad Bird 14 years to make a sequel worthy of his original work, though by that time the market for superhero films had become so saturated it only managed to take $1.2 billion at the box-office. Disney later ended the franchise and closed Pixar down in favour of starting their own trucking business.
Of course, that last part isn't true, and The Incredibles 3 will probably be with us in 2032, judging by the wait between the first and second films.
