Ranking The A Nightmare On Elm Street Films From Worst To Best
5. A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
Often described as the 'MTV Nightmare', this highly energetic and stylish entry in the series is undeniably one of its most entertaining but is considered by many to be the point where the franchise began to decline in quality.
We could argue back and forth until the cows come home about whether or not that's true, but in doing so, we'd be doing this film a disservice. Sure, it's a tad lighter on the horror elements, and yes Freddy becomes more of a walking joke-machine, but it's just so much fun that it's easy to forgive such minor quibbles.
Following on from the events of Part 3, this film sees new heroine Alice Johnson go toe-to-toe with Freddy as he sets his sights upon her friends after dispatching the few surviving Dream Warriors. A bold move, which fans still feel the sting of to this day, rest in peace Kristen, Kincaid, and Joey.
What's different here though is that each time one of her friends dies at Freddy's hands, Alice inherent some of their power, turning her into a force to be reckoned with, leading to one of the most over-the-top and visually stunning showdowns this series has to offer.
