15. Major Valerian - Valerian & The City Of A Thousand Planets

Much like The Mummy, Luc Besson's $200 million sci-fi blockbuster is very nearly sunk entirely by its incredulously underwhelming and poorly cast protagonist.

Far from the square-jawed hero of the comics, Dane DeHaan makes for a rather awkward and unconvincing Valerian, both when it comes to the movie's gorgeous action sequences and the love story between himself and Cara Delevingne's Laureline.

Thankfully the rest of the movie is enjoyable enough that it frequently manages to overcome this casting calamity, but overall Valerian is simply a lot less interesting than Delevingne's decidedly more charming and spunky heroine.

Clearly, Laureline should've been the protagonist.
