Ranking: The Biggest Protagonists From 2017's Summer Blockbusters

14. Jake Chambers - The Dark Tower

While many fans were disappointed that the long-awaited Stephen King adaptation focused a disproportionate amount on young Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) rather than Idris Elba's Gunslinger Roland Deschain, at least Tom Taylor gave a rock solid performance as the young boy who joins Roland on his quest.

The Dark Tower is a film undeniably rife with issues, but Taylor made Jake a likable, sympathetic presence throughout regardless, and considering how easily a bad child protagonist can sink a movie, he acquitted himself just fine.

It's a shame the potential cinematic franchise is effectively dead already, because Taylor surely would've comfortably grown into the character over the course of several movies.
