Ranking The Super Bowl Movie Trailers From Worst To Best
3. The Fate Of The Furious
John Wick: Chapter 2 cannot beat the latest preview for a franchise that leads the way in popcorn entertainment. And by the look of it the eighth Fast and Furious film looks even more over-the-top than its predecessors, featuring a car chase with a submarine in the arctic. If Super Bowl trailers are meant to be flashy and exciting, The Fate of The Furious trailer is a masterclass in playing to its audience.
It covers the basic plot of the film, and includes the cliche of the good guys teaming up with an old enemy to save the day, but the trailer has several stand-out moments, such as the wrecking ball and submarine chase. This is something almost every other Super Bowl trailer lacks. A film like this was tailor made for the distinct sensibilities of what an effective Super Bowl trailer needs to be - it is extravagant, loud and makes good use of its running time.
In some ways, this short preview works even better than the previous full-length trailers, and to achieve that whilst being one of the winners of this event's trailer battle is a remarkable achievement. If the Super Bowl trailer is this much fun, it is easy to imagine the actual film will be a perfect summer blockbuster.
