Ranking Tom Hardy’s 10 Best Performances (By How Much You Can Understand Him)

10. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Let's be honest - this movie was all about Imperator Furiosa anyway, and Max himself was merely a side character to the most kick ass female presence ever put on celluloid. So in reality, understanding Hardy€™s dialogue didn't really matter, because as long as he handed the guns to Furiosa we all knew everyone would be safe. But if you€™re going to rank a list of performances by how well viewers could understand Tom Hardy speak then there really isn€™t one quite like Fury Road is there? Throughout the film Hardy is a monosyllabic, grunting, growling beast who says no more than about six words within the movie€™s duration. In fact, the role was so heavily based around physical acting technique, and the film itself was so immersed in the technical detail of world building, that making the film actually stressed Hardy out so badly that when it was released, he publicly apologised to director George Miller for being so €˜myopic€™ while on set. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMuokmg5muc Regardless of how few words he may have had, and how hard those few words may have been to actually understand, the film was still the best of the year, and the fact that Hardy could do so much with so little, is a credit to his ability, and the immense brilliance of everyone else involved in this masterpiece.
