Re-Casting The Lord Of The Rings Movies If They Came Out Today

13. Eomer - Alex Skarsgard

Lord Of The Rings
Warner Bros. Pictures

Eomer is the warrior nephew of King Théoden, and brother to Eowen. Casting Skarsgard in the role, with his rippling muscles and long flowing hair, we have a chance to see Eomer depicted as an actual Scandinavian warrior, just as Tolkien envisioned for the Riders of Rohan.

While Eomer starts out as somewhat hostile to the trio of Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, he quickly becomes a staunch supporter of the Fellowship's campaign. Skarsgard's easy charm and leading man looks would stand him in good stead to play the loyal Eomer, and would be a good visual clash with a more rugged looking Aragon. Just look at those sparkling baby blues.

Plus, with his upcoming roles in big titles like Godzilla vs. Kong, Skarsgard's name has serious potential to be a big box office draw. Not that Lord of the Rings needs more publicity, mind. It's Lord of the Rings.

What's more, Alexander isn't the only acting Skarsgard, and there's a chance here to cast the whole family as denizens of the Riddermark, owing to the trademark blonde hair and slightly pan-Germanic accents. Just make sure the guy from IT doesn't try and bring his own costume.
