Recasting X-Men: 14 Actors Who Need To Replace Singer's Mutants
7. Kim Basinger - Emma Frost
Don't dismiss this one immediately. First of all, January Jones played Emma Frost in First Class and was near-universally regarded as the worst thing in the movie, a deadpan fembot who looked like she wanted to be literally anywhere else.
Frost was killed off-screen in DOFP, many assuming this to be due to Jones' unpopularity, but as ever, the fact we didn't personally see her die means there's every opportunity to contrive a reason to bring her back for a second attempt.
By the mid-90s Emma Frost would be around 60 years of age, which opens the role up for an older actress to nab the part. Jessica Lange and Michelle Pfeiffer are both fine choices, but Kim Basinger just feels like the most natural fit, still retaining most of her natural beauty but showing signs of the aging process as well.
Of course, Frost's revealing costumes should probably be reined in a bit for an aged take on the character, but this could be a really meaty role for an older actress, which there really aren't enough of in the blockbuster realm.
It's sadly most likely that Frost is going to remain dead, though, and Jones' one-off is all we're going to get.
