Reign Of The Supermen Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Frederik Wiedmann's Soaring Musical Score

The composers on these movies don't tend to get a whole lot of credit, and in fairness, it's usually because their musical scores sound cheap, derivative and quickly churned out.

Frederik Wiedmann has been DC animation's low-key MVP for quite some time, though, with his evocative score from last year's Batman: Gotham by Gaslight proving the most creative musical arrangement from any DC animated film in many years.

His work here strikes a more traditional note, but it's still leaps and bounds ahead of the usual bland orchestral fare, nailing a sure intensity during the many action sequences and helping boost the emotional resonance when it matters most.

If Warner Bros. are smart, they'll task Wiedmann with scoring as many of these movies as his schedule will allow.
