Reservoir Dogs: Every Character & Performance Ranked

1. Mr. Orange - Tim Roth

Reservoir Dogs
Miramax

The reveal that Mr. Orange (AKA Freddy Newandyke) is the cop is fantastic. He blows away Mr. Blonde and converses with Marvin Nash, while he continues to bleed out on the floor, returning to the film after a lengthy time out from dialogue and screen time. It is masterfully done not that far into the movie.

We see the flashback of Freddy remembering lines for how he will convince Joe to let him into the job, and it is excellent, as is Roth’s portrayal as the rat. Along with that the scene where he bleeds in the car holding the hand of Mr. White is memorable and it is all topped off by the almost heartbreaking moment at the end when he reveals his deception to Mr White.

Roth is consistently throughout the film the best performer and his character has the most meat on the bones. He is layered with great, even though arguably limited dialogue as well as very memorable scenes. Reservoir Dogs needs its performances and characters, and Roth portraying Mr. Orange is the standout.
