Ryan Reynolds: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Paul Conroy - Buried

Promising young director, Rodrigo Cortés, set festivals alike back in 2010 with this claustrophobic mini classic. With such a basic premise - an American trucker out in Iraq is kidnapped, wakes coffin bound with survival items that not even MacGyver could make use of - the film never collapses under the weight of its 95-minute running time, with camera firmly directed at Reynolds throughout, never deviating from a captivating performance.

From initial shock, to frantic conversations on his blackberry to the US State Department, all the way up to moments of true heartbreak, Reynolds has this one down to a pat. Jar-headed and tainted with dust and grime, this is the soon to be superhero superstar at his very best, with his performance ranking alongside the best singular charter focus turns of all time. Sorry, Joan Of Arc.
