Shatner furious that he won't be in the new Star Trek film
Whenever movie franchises go through a "restart" phase, I always think that it's best to have very little resemblance to the previous films in the series, especially in terms of the acting talent. For example, I found Judi Dench's role as M extremely distracting in Casino Royale... although granted that could still be my anger over M still being a women in Bond's early days. I just think that re-using actors that have starred in the previous films shouldn't be done, ESPECIALLY for this new Star Trek film where you are promoting a new actor as Captain Kirk. Why bring William Shatner back? What purpose will it serve than to take us "out of the moment" for a few seconds? By the sounds of things, J.J. Abrams has come to his senses over offering Shatner (and probably Nimoy too) a cameo in the film, and according to Reuteurs it's left Shatner "very upset". This is a new start. With new talent and a new tone. Time to move forward is what I say.
