Sherlock Holmes Writer To Sculpt THE TWILIGHT ZONE Movie For Matt Reeves
Invictus scribe to re-write the script so filming can begin next summer on the Rod Serling adaptation, with a 2013 release eyed by Warner Bros.
Warner Bros have chosen Tony Peckham, screenwriter of Invictus and also their first Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes movie to re-write The Twilight Zone feature film adaptation that will shoot next summer for a 2013 release, reports Variety. This is the movie that producer and possible star Leonardo DiCaprio and his production company Appian Way have been trying to make for years. Peckham will re-write Jason Rothenberg's original screenplay (one of a few) and to mold the new direction Let Me In and Cloverfield director Matt Reeves wanted to go in when he was hired two months back. As we were told in October, the new take on The Twilight Zone wont be an anthology film like Spielberg and cos 80s effort that is a largely forgotten production but one big science fiction action movie with a single freestanding story that is linked to the original series mainly in that it shares that familiarly eerie feel. Of course The Twilight Zone wasnt and has never been a big science action franchise but what the hell, at least we know DiCaprio has a deep love for the property and wouldnt let anything with his name on it disrespect Serling. And yes, if he decided NOT to star in the movie he should totally introduce the story the way Serling used too of course he should. No brainer. Peckham then is definitely a step up from the unknown writers who were taking a stab at The Twilight Zone in the past and we all hope he and Reeves are the men to unlock the secrets of making Rod Serling's epic creation work on the big screen. The last thing we want to see is a bad Twilight Zone movie, right?
