20 INSANE Recent Horror Movie Scenes NOBODY Saw Coming

The adaptation of hit video game Until Dawn may have been a mixed bag, but it at least touted the inspired idea of having the central characters trapped in a time loop, allowing director David F. Sandberg to serve up a bevy of inventively grisly kills without offing any of the central characters permanently.

And by far the most memorably WTF death scene in the film happens when the four central leads drink some tap water, blissfully unaware that it's lethally contaminated with... something.

A few moments later, the group starts violently exploding from the inside out one by one, their gory remnants being showered over everyone else until they're all dead and the time loop resets once more.

It's all the more unexpected as the tainted water wasn't featured at all in the 2015 video game - this was an entirely original idea for the film, with Sandberg combining practical and digital effects to masterfully gross effect.
