2. Michelle IS An Alien - Bugonia
It's a testament to Yorgos Lanthimos' filmmaking chops that even though Bugonia's big twist is outlined as a possibility from the very start of the movie, it still knocks us for six when the penny finally drops.
Pharma CEO Michelle Fuller (Emma Stone) is kidnapped by Teddy Gatz (Jesse Plemons), a conspiracy theorist who believes that Michelle is secretly a member of an alien race called the Andromedans who want to destroy Earth.
Lanthimos and his cast do a fantastic job of making Teddy appear as unhinged as humanly possible, but after Teddy is killed when his suicide vest accidentally detonates, Michelle indeed ends up teleporting back to the Andromedan mothership.
Here she's revealed to be an alien leader just as Teddy thought, and because that's not insane enough, she and the other Andromedans then surmise that the "human experiment" has been a failure.
She subsequently pops a bubble-like diorama of Earth, which instantly kills every single human being on the planet, leaving behind only plants and animals. The End.
