Sigourney Weaver: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Dian Fossey - Gorillas In The Most: The Story Of Dian Fossey (1988)

Gorillas In The Mist, a true-to-life film adaptation of Dian Fossey's life-long devotion to the protection of Gorillas is both heart-warming and horrifying in the events that it depicts. Sigourney Weaver's role of playing Fossey on-screen is frequently cited as being an example of perfect casting due to the actor's reputation as playing stern, strong female leads: traits which the real Fossey was known for. Gorillas In The Mist is perhaps the single greatest piece of proof that Weaver isn't and shouldn't only be known for her reputation as the 'Sci Fi Queen'. Weaver never puts a foot wrong in Gorillas In The Mist, and her portrayal of Fossey helped audiences the world over to understand one of history's greatest anthropologists. While certain aspects of Fossey's life were toned down and left open to interpretation in the film, the minor inaccuracies do nothing to subtract from Weaver's expert portrayal of a woman that valued animal life above her own.
