Sigourney Weaver: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
3. Dana Barrett - Ghostbusters (1984)
Forget about those silly romantic comedy films, Bill Murray's constant attempts at wooing Dana Barrett (Weaver) as Dr. Venkmen in Ghostbusters forms one the greatest love stories ever written. Okay, so that's obviously a barefaced lie, but the comedy chemistry on display between both Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray's characters in the science fiction comedy is what's missing in most modern movies today. It's Weaver's dual performance as the reserved, everyday Dana Barrett and as the flamboyant, seductive demon Zuul though, that truly makes her talent shine in Ghostbusters and makes it hard to imagine anyone else playing the part with as much energy or guile as her. With the personalities of non-possessed Dana and possessed Dana being at completely opposite ends of the spectrum as far as their behaviour is concerned, the film gave Weaver the freedom to show audiences that she wasn't just an actor content on being famous for one role.
