Sin City: A Dame To Kill For - Ranking The Returning Characters

1. Marv

Let's just get it out of the way: Marv was, for many people, the first film's best character. As both the spark for Mickey Rourke's Hollywood comeback as well as a showcase for the man's talents, Marv cast a big shadow in "The Hard Goodbye" that the rest of the film's characters in the following stories had to crawl out of. Since Rourke's career rocketed back uphill after the release of the original film, he could have easily turned down the offer to reprise the character. Fortunately for audiences, he's back in full swing as the character he owes quite a bit to, alive and well long before "The Hard Goodbye" to take part in both the titular story and "The Fat Loss," as well as leading his own smaller-scale yarn "Just Another Saturday Night". Even as he smashed, tortured and maimed his way through the seedy underbelly of Basin City and lamented his own perceived lack of intelligence, Marv's wit, smarts and moral compass helped make him largely the beating heart and soul of the original film. As the sequel is giving him the chance to spend time dealing with many of the other characters, including Dwight, Manute, Nancy and more, the idea of more Rourke as Marv is the most thrilling carryover from the original. With so many characters returning from the original film to fight to stand out alongside the sequel's host of new characters, fans are bound to have their own favorites and things they're looking forward to. Feel free to share which characters, new and old, you're most excited to see below as we wait out the clock for A Dame to Kill For to finally arrive.
