7. It's A Celebration of Britain in 2012

2012 has already proven for everyone of British origins and descent to be a monumental and iconic year for the country - from the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II which caused a massive musical celebration across the country to the Summer Olympics which, aside from topping the impressive games in Beijing, produced a spectacular group of opening and closing ceremonies that whilst perhaps not as technically excellent as the Beijing ceremonies were, were infused with a warmth and affection about our strengths and our weaknesses as a country. It therefore makes sense that this 'Pride of Britain' motif running through the year's proceedings would permeate Skyfall - Bond, along with the Harry Potter movies and other iconic British films, have such a degree of affection placed upon them, not only as being with British actors and British crews or directors, but being rooted deeply in the history of the country. Hopefully Skyfall will become a new classic and be the crowning achievement that tops a wonderful 2012 for the UK.
