Skyfall Spoilers: 11 Biggest Secrets Revealed & Reviewed

7. Severine's Death

Perhaps a slightly weak element of the film is how Severine's character is built up to have a certain import in the story, but largely she just serves to provide Bond with an introduction to Bardem's Raoul Silva, such that as soon as he makes his presence felt - a whopping 70 minutes into the film, mind - she is quickly disposed of. Silva places a shot glass on top of her head, goading an out-of-step Bond to try and shoot it off her head, but eventually Silva just ends up shooting her himself. Given that she dies in a fairly brutal, undignified way, the moment feels a little underplayed, likely due to the 12A rating stifling what can be shown, with the editing making it seem rather tame. But then this was never a film really about the Bond girls; if the film is about any woman, it is indubitably M.
