UPDATED: (It isn’t) Soderbergh’s HAYWIRE to receive limited Manhatten release from Friday?

Updated: Whilst I was in bed, Jeff posted a retraction on of his story after AMC informed he they had messed up. It won't be getting a small run on Friday. Meanwhile, reader Takeshi M. left a note on this forum that the latest 'Haywire' news is of a March/April release, and that the movie has changed hands from Lionsgate to Overture? Sorry to those who tweeted the story, and linked to our article. Jeff Wells has noticed that Movietickets.com are reporting Steven Soderbergh's latest movie 'Haywire', his low-budget female led action/spy thriller starring MMA fighter Gina Carano, has hastily been slapped with a one-week release at Manhatten's AMC Empire theatre, beginning this Friday That's a good three months before it opens in January - so why the sudden, quiet release? Is it the idea, much like 'Crazy Heart' last year, that there is something special about this under-the-radar film that could make it something of an awards contender? There must be a reason why Lionsgate are testing the waters? Alongside Carano are a noticeable group of thesps including Michael Douglas (could his recent health problems have led to a feeling it could be a contender?), Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender and Bill Paxton - and as far as I'm aware the film is a revenge thriller about a black ops specialist who is double crossed by her teammates, upon whom she takes vengeance on as she vows to return to the U.S. to protect her family. But I had you at Soderbergh, right?
