Solo: A Star Wars Story - 10 Concerns Raised By The New Trailer

2. The Teaser Ultimately Fails To Justify The Film's Existence

Ultimately, a trailer - even a teaser trailer - is supposed to win you round to an idea, and unfortunately there isn't anything in this trailer that suggests this film is going to be able to justify its own existence. In fact, it has the opposite effect: watching it almost makes you less excited to see the film. That was never the case when the teaser for Rogue One landed: the footage reinforced the film's core concept.

What fans wanted (or needed, perhaps) was to see something to convince them a Han Solo origin story is worth telling. Be that through the genius casting of an actor who was born to play the part, or by way of a story so good that it simply had to be told. What this particular teaser appears to showcase, however, is the exact movie that so many naysayers expected to see... and nothing more.

If, by the time the movie launches in May, it turns out to be better than the sum of these shoddy-looking parts, then all credit to Disney and Ron Howard for pulling off some kind of miracle. Right now, though, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story appears to have all the makings of the biggest misfire since Attack of the Clones.
