8. The Needles Reference

On the other end of the Easter Eggs quality spectrum - but no less surprising - is the revelation early on in the film that suggests that Han learned a dangerous driving manouevre from an old street racing friend called Needles.

Presumably, he bore an uncanny resemblance to Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Back To The Future. Unfortunately for this alternate version of the character, he died in a race, in contrast to the events that were supposed to happen at the end of Back To The Future Part III.

It's a great little Easter Egg, but that doesn't mean it's not hugely surprising.
