7. The Space Squid's Death

As Han pilots the Falcon through the Kessel Run, we get a big callback to The Empire Strikes Back when Han says “I thought we were in trouble there for a second, but it’s fine; we’re fine" and immediately flies into trouble. In this case it's an enormous space creature - some sort of squid, in fact - that almost eats the Falcon.

It's a great little escalation of drama, but it also ends in one of the most disturbing scenes in any Star Wars film as the creature is sucked into a Maw with such ferocity that its flesh is literally sucked off its bones. That is not the kind of thing that sells toys to kids.

Mr Lucas would be furious.
