Solo: A Star Wars Story - 17 WTF Moments

3. Han Shoots First

Star Wars Han Solo Trailer Beckett

Considering the Star Wars canon established that Han shot second after Greebo missed - mostly because George Lucas didn't want him to be "that guy" - the fact that Solo then establishes that he very much is "that guy" is somewhat confusing.

Is Han shooting Beckett before he has a chance to kill him - before he even lifts his weapon, in fact - a sign of them softly undoing George Lucas' infamous edit? Is this their way of re-establishing the correct order of the galaxy?

Also, why does Han then react the way he does after shooting Beckett? Sure, he's a sort of mentor to him, but he's never at Obi-Wan levels of affection and the two don't really bond all that much. The fact that Han treats his death - by his own hand remember - like he's watching his father die, is just plain weird.
