Spectre: 12 Easter Eggs & James Bond References In The New Trailer

5. The Disappearing Act

There's very much a nod to License To Kill in there too, even if it's not expressly followed through on. That film of course centres on Bond going rogue - which he definitely does here, given M's obvious annoyance - and relying in part in some unofficial assistance from Q to complete his personal mission after his licence to kill is revoked. While he might not actually be suspended, it's obvious Bond is planning a disappearing act - he even asks Q to help it happen in the trailer - and the notes are very similar to License To Kill. And then, as an additional bonus of course, Q has actually already sort of made Bond disappear, since he introduced the preposterous invisible car in Die Another Day and then quipped "wish I could make you disappear!" The less said about that the better, but if the nod is a playful and conscious one, then Mendes deserves credit.
