Spectre: 12 Easter Eggs & James Bond References In The New Trailer

4. The Return Of The White Tuxedo

Not since 1985's A View To A Kill has Bond gone white. Over the course of the character's screen history, the white tux has appeared five times, starting with Goldfinger (and with a brief flirtation with a double-breasted version in The Man With The Golden Gun), and it's fitting that it returns after thirty years out of the game. It's very much a nod to the original Goldfinger tux - the peaked lapels (worn twice by Connery, once by Moore) and red carnation (only worn once in combination with a white jacket) giving the game away. It appears he wears it on a train journey, which is then interrupted by Mr Hinx on a rampage, and himself wearing a brown suit that feels somewhat reminiscent of Mr Wint and Mr Kidd's appearance...
Clearly, SPECTRE has a good tailor. Is there something to be read in the tux's appearance? What do the films that feature white tuxes - Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man With The Golden Gun, Octopussy and A View To A Kill have in common? Well nothing obvious, but there's got to be some sort of magic formula in there, surely?
