Spectre: 12 Easter Eggs & James Bond References In The New Trailer
6. Live And Let Die Magnetic Zip
Say what you want about Roger Moore's Bond, but if camp was currency he could probably have bought his own base on the moon. As a second nod to Live And Let Die, there's a very tongue-in-cheek redo of the magnetic unzipping (which inspired one of those typical Moore camp quips), though without the entirely unnecessary gadget. And also the ever so slightly creepy lack of actual complicity... There's also the possibility that Mr Hinx's immediately recognisable number plate (ROMA 860K) is a reference to Bond tracing Kananga's henchman Whisper using his licence plate, since there's no way any supposedly inconspicuous killer would be driving around with a bloody private registration number. Are the nods simply fan service? Or is there something more tangible to be read in the storyline of Live And Let Die? The most intriguing point in there would be double agency, and there's definitely a whiff of that here.
