Spider-Man: 15 Actors Who Almost Played Major Roles

This one would have gone down the rabbit hole to cast its Gwen Stacy after rebooting the Raimiverse and Marc Webb taking over. It was originally rumored that Emma Stone would be playing Mary Jane Watson, and Alice In Wonderland's Mia Wasikowska would be putting her blonde bombshell status to use as Gwen Stacy.

Both were contending for separate parts in Webb's Amazing Spider-man, but it eventually transpired that Stone would be Stacy. It didn't stop Wasikowska getting close to the part, but presumably, the decision to cast Stone as Stacy came from Webb's love for the actress and his keenness to keep the films focussed on one story at a time.

With Stone filling the role of Gwen, Wasikowska's audition became redundant. I don't know what it is, but I am glad that they picked Stone, as there's something about Wasikowska that doesn't quite fit with Parker's feisty main love.
