Spider-Man: 15 Actors Who Almost Played Major Roles

This one is a bit of a kicker, Woodley actually did have a part in Spider-Man...it just unfortunately lies on a cutting room floor somewhere!

2014 was a big year for Woodley, starring in The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent, but a hat-trick wasn't meant to be. Her part as Mary Jane Watson was unceremoniously cut from Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and ushered into the realm of "let's not talk about that." Thankfully, Woodley didn't take the news too hard and got back on her horse, telling Vanity Fair:

"For a few hours it was literally like, 'Oh, my God, was I awful? Why did they cut me? What are people going to think...I woke up the next morning and I was like, "O.K., it makes total sense.' I'm a pretty spiritual person, so I can just sit back and trust that everything happens for a reason, even if my ego doesn't like it."

Webb candidly said that there was a scene where MJ and Gwen were seen talking, but he didn't want to ruin the sacredness of having The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as a Gwen Stacy swansong. Who knows if Woodley would have got her chance in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, because we all know how that plan ended up.
