Spider-Man: 15 Actors Who Almost Played Major Roles

Before Kingsley was making strange and unpopular appearances in Iron Man, he could actually have been able to bring a proper Marvel villain to our screens and not just masquerade as The Mandarin. It isn't hard to see the drawn similarities between the Shutter Island actor and the flapping role of Adrian Toomes, a.k.a The Vulture.

After the huge success of Spider-Man 2 and the world of Spider-Man at his fingertips, Raimi became fixated with taking to the skies with Vulture. However, the studios just weren't convinced that the villain would fly with fans.

When developing Spider-Man 3, Raimi went as far as casting Kingsley as Vulture. It is unknown whether we would have had Sandman, Green Goblin, AND Vulture, but the decision to include Toomes was changed by producer Avi Arad in favor of Venom. Raimi's fixation with bringing one of Spider-Man's earliest foes to our screens then became part of the problem for Spider-Man 4 ending on the scrap heap. The Vulture went back to the nest...for a little bit anyway
