The Rumour

Evidently, JK Simmons' excellent J Jonah Jameson will be returning for Spider-Man 3 as the incendiary mouth-piece leading the charge against the newly-christened criminal. But he won't be operating alone. One intriguing rumour suggests that Jameson will be a Breitbart News style corporate-sponsored front for a famous villain who is opportunistically using Spider-Man's situation to try and take over New York without anyone looking into possible criminal activities.

And who else would fit that billing as the secretive big bad better than Norman Osborn?

Response

There were some hints of a new big presence in New York in Far From Home, as Tony Stark sold Avengers Tower to someone in Homecoming and we saw them moving in and readying the place for reopening in passing in the sequel. Wouldn't it fit that Oscorp - Peter Parker's oldest foe - would buy the biggest building in the city?

And the idea of a new media front for Osborn, who could perhaps present himself as a Kingpin-style "saviour" of New York representing the people is a really, really good idea.
