Spider-Man: Far From Home - Every Character Ranked Worst To Best
7. Betty Brant
After being largely just a bit-part player in Homecoming, Betty Brant gets an expanded opportunity in the sequel thanks to the decision to write her into a humorous relationship with Ned. What begins as strange disdain and Ned's desire to live the "American bachelor life" while in Europe quickly becomes a microcosm of what teenagers think marriage is.
Betty is painted here as a sort of idyllic housewife, endlessly calling Ned "babe" and seemingly controlling him, but there's no real malicious commentary on her influence. It's more just for comic effect and it genuinely does work.
The pay-off of their relationship is also really clever, since this film is all about the idea of a child playing at being an adult (and his anxieties about leaving his care-free days behind him). And while she doesn't have a huge impact on the story, she's an entertaining presence.
