Spider-Man: Far From Home - Every Character Ranked Worst To Best
9. Happy Hogan
Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan plays a very key role in the film's narrative structure and there's some symbolic value to his presence given the focus on Tony Stark's legacy, but his characterisation is still a little frustrating.
He's ostensibly just an affectionate clown (he has been for most of his appearances, really, so it's not a betrayal of the character), whose usefulness is often at odds with how calamitous and cantankerous he is. He's there as a proxy for Tony Stark, to keep his presence more visible when it's necessary, more than anything.
And for all of the frustrations in how much of an idiot they make him, it's genuinely heartwarming to see Happy use his knowledge of Tony to inform Peter's epiphany. More than any of the gadgets or the access to the superhero life, Tony's real legacy to Peter was his belief in him, but also, his introduction to Happy.
