Spider-Man: Homecoming Final Trailers Reactions - 7 Ups & 4 Downs
2. Peter Acts Like An Actual Kid
One of the biggest complaints about the previous Spider-Man movies was that Peter didn't look or act like the kid that he's supposed to be.
Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were both on the downside of their 20s when they first put on the suit, and it's pretty hard to ignore this in the end product.
Thankfully, though, Tom Holland wasn't even 20 years old when he filmed his role for Civil War, making for a far more age-appropriate rendition of the character, and allowing Homecoming to lean into his lack of maturity a little easier.
The new trailers focus on his childish over-eagerness to push himself to the limit and his frustration at Tony treating him like a kid, all of which feels totally authentic and should be bolstered by high school sequences said to be in the vein of classic John Hughes films.
