Spider-Man: No Way Home - 10 Darkest Moments
3. The world turns on Peter, MJ, and Ned
No Way Home picks up exactly where Far From Home left off. While swinging through the city on a date with MJ, J Jonah Jameson announces to the world that Spider-Man killed Mysterio and executed the drone strike on London, with fabricated footage from the battle to back it up. Mysterio then reveals that Spider-Man's real name is Peter Parker, shattering Peter's world.
From this moment on, the lives of Peter, MJ, and Ned are forever changed, simply because they associate with the Web-head. Peter has to rush MJ back home from their date, avoiding mobs of angry New Yorkers swarming them. When they finally make it back home, they discover helicopters surrounding their apartment, and shortly after receive a visit from the Department of Damage Control. When Peter can finally return to high school, he, MJ, and Ned all require security clearance to enter, and have half the school booing them as they do. Peter eventually has to move in with Happy when people start hurling bricks through his windows (which are caught by none other than Peter's layer, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock aka Daredevil.)
The most heartbreaking aspect of this occurs when Peter, MJ, and Ned are all rejected from every single college they apply to. The two previous films establish that all three are passionate students who have been looking forward to college since high school started. Seeing them discover that they can't go simply because they know Peter is sad, as all their hard work goes down the drain for no real reason.
Knowing Peter is not only innocent but actively saved London from Mysterio and those drones makes these moments hit all the harder.
