Spider-Man: No Way Home - 10 Darkest Moments

2. Everyone Forgets Peter Parker

When Doctor Strange can barely contain the spell which would cause an influx of people from alternate universes to swarm the MCU, Peter has an idea: Doctor Strange should cast a new spell which would cause everyone to forget who Peter Parker is. Doctor Strange reluctantly agrees, casting this spell and erasing everyone's memories of Peter Parker, including his loved ones.

Peter says a tearful goodbye to Ned and MJ before swinging off. The next time he sees them, they have no idea who he is. He rehearses a speech to give to MJ, but abandons it at the last minute in favor of a quick conversation with her before leaving her coffee shop, and presumably her life. On the bright side, this version of both Ned and MJ were accepted into MIT, meaning they'll continue to have each other in their lives, just without Peter.

Additionally, Peter shares a heartbreaking exchange with Happy at Aunt May's grave. Happy, who once loved Peter, asks how he knew May, with no idea of their shared history. Peter says through Spider-Man, leaving out the fact that he is her beloved nephew. It's hard to watch him having two separate conversations with loved ones who regard him as strangers.

This ending is utterly painful, yet No Way Home still has one moment which goes to even darker places.
