Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

37. Newton

Star Trek Newton Type
CBS

The Newton type is another vessel that was designed in the wake of the Romulan Nero's arrival into the past, thus creating an alternate timeline that required more powerful Starfleet vessels to be designed. The Newton type boasted two nacelles that were above the primary hull, very similar in design to the Kelvin.

There were two secondary hulls located beneath these, with all four joined together by struts to the primary hull. The Newton itself took part in the Battle of Vulcan, as one of the many ships that warped away to save the day, only to meet a grizzly fate above the doomed planet.

There were several of these types of ship visibly docked with spacedock as Kirk approached in a shuttle, meaning that although the Newton proved ineffective against the Narrada, there were plenty left to take its place in the fleet.
