Star Wars: 10 Awesome Announcements They Need To Make At Comic-Con

6. ...And The Film's Director

Even if they don€™t confirm the characters the second Anthology film will focus on, Lucasfilm may well want to confirm who will be directing it. That€™s because, for a while anyway, it did already have a director attached. Chronicle€™s Josh Trank was set to be behind the camera, but he recently dropped out. There were rumours at the time he had been fired, with talk of Simon Kinberg (who is producing the film) not being impressed with his work on the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, and that he was difficult to work with. Trank has since refuted the claims, saying he left because of all the online hate he was receiving for Fantastic Four, and had no desire to go through that again with another big franchise. Whatever the reason, Trank is no longer on board. Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1 & 2) and Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class) are reportedly the two frontrunners for the job at the moment, both solid if slightly more €˜obvious€™ choices, while Michelle MacLaren€™s name has also cropped up recently, which would be an exciting direction for them to go in.
