Star Wars: 10 Awkward Prequel Moments Fans Will Never Forget
1. Padme And Anakin Flirting In Episode 2
When Padme met Anakin Skywalker, he was 9 and she supposedly was 14, beginning a relationship that spiraled from being simple friends into a drastically uncomfortable relationship. While their age differences were only 5 years in episode 2, that still doesn't make his sudden sexual obsession with Padme any better as he was barely 19 when she was 24 and could do much better than the moody whining kid she once knew that now just stares at her and talks about her all weird when he's not supposed to.
Worst of all she actually falls for Anakin even though she spent the entire film trying to not date Anakin due to their obvious age gap as well as their conflicting social standings as senator and Jedi padawan. But then when they are about to be executed on Geonosis Padme admits shes always loved Anakin and they get married after spending basically a week together following a ten year gap being apart.
If the film writers simply made the age gap non-existent or made it so Anakin fell in love with someone more his age, or even just started the prequels with episode 2 as the first film so fans don't have to look at the interaction between young Padme and really young Anakin in episode one as creepier than the incest kiss in the original trilogy then maybe it would have come off as more romantic instead off being almost as creepy as Edward and Bella's relationship in the Twilight films.
