4. General Hux Will Try To Kill Them Both
However, imagine if Kylo Ren does actually turn? What then? With Supreme Leader Snoke dead, and Captain Phasma appearing to be gone as well, that leaves just General Hux left as the one person who could continue to keep the First Order afloat if Ben Solo decides that, despite killing his father and destroying his relationship with mother, the grass is greener on the other side after all.
It seems a genuine possibility that Hux may actually be the true bad guy of the trilogy. Formidable in the Force Awakens, lacklustre in The Last Jedi, Domhnall Gleeson’s character is expected to be back with a bang in Episode 9. He already contemplated murdering Kylo last time out and, given Rey’s loyalty to the Resistance, she too is likely to be in his sights.
And that’s regardless of what side Kylo chooses to turn to. If Hux wants to kill him when he’s ON his side, what chance does he have if he opts to change allegiances?
Why Is It Big? Having Hux take on a far more central role would be a shock and it would suggest that Supreme Leader Snoke’s death had an even bigger purpose than before. Also, it would mean Hux reverting back to the character he was in the Force Awakens, rather than the tame and wimpy individual he came across as in The Last Jedi.
