Star Wars: 10 Starfighters We Never Got To See

7. Z-'ceptor

Another entrant from the fleet of Uglies, the Z-'ceptor combined the 'eyeball' of the TIE-Fighter with the front fuselage of the Headhunter. It also adapted solar panels from the TIE-Interceptor for its power source as well, which helped to make it highly agile and maneuverable. The ship may not have been pretty, but its design belied its capabilities.

This ship made its debut in the comic Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron: Masquerade. Unlike many of the other Uglies, the Z-'ceptor was well armed with laser canons and Ion cannons. It was equipped with a hyper-drive as well, making it a more formidable foe over a greater distance.

One of the most distinctively unique elements to its design was where the Astromech droid was situated. Rather than appearing vertically, like X-Wing star-fighters for example, they were horizontal in the vessel, with their heads forming the nose of the ship. These vessels were involved in hunting down groups of Yuzzum and slaughtering them. One such Yuzzum escaped, setting himself up as a singer in Jabba the Huts palace.

Another ship confined to the pages of a comic, it remains to be seen if this design will make it into a future live action or animated series.
