Star Wars: 10 Starfighters We Never Got To See

5. Carrion Spike

Although introduced to the franchise relatively recently, in the Poe Dameron comics in 2014, the Carrion Spike has been retconned back in Star Wars mythology. It was deceptively simple in its design, which was spearheaded by Moff Tarkin, in conjunction with Siener Fleet Systems. Based on the Republic IPV-2C Stealth Corvette, it was extremely agile and able to easily outmaneuver much larger vessels, such as Star Destroyers.

It was heavily armed, with its only real weakness being the spine that connected to the aft engines. Even with this weakness, it only became a true issue if the shields were lowered. That said, the ship was captured by rebel forces, though was later abandoned for fear of betrayal. One of their informers knew entirely too much about the vessel and was planning on selling them to the Empire. The ship was reclaimed and brought back to Tarkin himself.

The ship was highly advanced, particularly in its propulsion systems. It was able to travel continuously from the Outer Rim to Coruscant without having to drop to sublight speeds and re-plot a course. It was protected by its cloaking device. The interior design suited the personality of its owner, with sleek and functional operational areas, though a highly ornate conference room was set aside for the Moff as well.

The ship eventually met an ignoble demise, destroyed by a Star Destroyer as punishment for its then-Captains disobeying orders.
