Star Wars: 10 Things Colin Trevorrow's Episode 9 Script Did Better Than The Rise Of Skywalker
4. It Took Us Back To Coruscant, Book-Ending The Series
It seemed quite strange that The Rise of Skywalker featured in some shape or form almost every planet which appeared in the Original Trilogy, while the only Prequel planet that made an appearance was so warped from its original appearance that only people who have read the visual dictionary would have even recognised it as Mustafar.
Much of the Prequel Trilogy took place in Coruscant, and the backbone of the main plotline that ran throughout Duel Of The Fates centred around this fan-favourite planet.
Not only would this have introduced some quintessential Star Wars symmetry or 'poetry' into the Saga -- ending it, essentially, where it began -- it would have been cool seeing the rather shabby nineties and noughties CGI location re-imagined in gorgeous 2019 visuals, and given Prequel fans something to latch onto. Coruscant's reappearance would have also book-ended the Saga, bringing the nine movies to full circle.
Seriously, after making such an egregiously distracting point to ram Bespin and Endor into the film's final minutes, the distinct lack of the most important planet of the franchise comes is baffling.
