Star Wars: 10 Things Everyone Forgets About Tatooine
3. A Diverse Population
While the influx of smugglers, criminals, and beings trying to disappear are extremely diverse and varied, there are four main species on the planet of Tatooine: the two indigenous species of the aforementioned Jawas and Tusken Raiders, the corpulent, corrupt and worm-like Hutts, and the human settlers who either stayed after the mining boom or who arrived to claim land for moisture farming.
The Jawas are believed to be rodent-like creatures or devolved humans, although no one is certain because no other species ever see them out of their heavy robes. Still, some people claim that they are furry. What is known, though, is that Jawas are scavengers, scrappers, and scroungers and are not above selling defective merchandise to unsuspecting farmers.
Where the Tusken Raiders are concerned, they are a xenophobic, territorial, and adversarial race. They believe that all others are trespassers and that all water is sacred and promised to them. They often stage attacks on the outskirts of settlements and travel in single file to hide their numbers. They use gaderffil sticks and cycler rifles in battle.
The Hutts are disgusting, slug-like creatures and are slavers and crime lords on Tatooine and throughout the Outer and Mid-Rim Territories. The Hutts are said to be extremely long-lived, have three lungs, and reproduce asexually. They carry their young in a pouch like Earth marsupials.
