Star Wars: 10 Things You Never Knew About General Grievous
1. Paving The Way For Darth Vader
By far the most intriguing aspect of General Grievous' existence is in how much he foreshadows the fall of Anakin Skywalker and the rise of Darth Vader.
Both Anakin and Grievous were once proud warriors fighting for what they thought was right, only for their worldviews to be shattered by the power of the Sith. They'd both become unstoppable, remorseless cyborgs with an unquenchable thirst for power, and they even shared issues with their breathing.
None of this is a mistake. Much like Maul in The Clone Wars, Grievous' cybernetic enhancements were always meant to recall memories of Darth Vader, to emphasise the endless loop of light vs dark in the Galaxy.
Even cooler than that, though, is the fact that the new technology used to keep Grievous alive and turn him into a cyborg was the same tech used to save Anakin and make him become the imposing Dark Lord audiences know and love - robotic limbs, breathing apparatus and all.
Grievous may not have been around for as long as he maybe should have been, but his impact on Star Wars lore in massive. He really should have his own origin story some point down the line.
