Star Wars: 20 Things You Didn't Know About Return Of The Jedi
12. Alan Rickman Auditioned For Moff Jerjerrod
The commander of the Death Star, Moff Jerjerrod, was ultimately played by Michael Pennington, though a now-legendary actor also auditioned for the part - the late, great Alan Rickman.
Years before he became an instant household name off the back of Die Hard, Rickman tried out for Moff Jerjerrod, and apparently auditioned with a "big, slow, low voice," which seemingly didn't impress the filmmakers enough to give him the part.
Pennington of course did a stellar job with the role, but the notion of Rickman playing an Imperial officer is one of cinema's all-time most agonising, "what if?" moments.
