1. The More We Know, The Less Interesting Yoda Is

Put simply, the more information we learn about Master Yoda, the less interesting the character becomes. There's a reason that Yoda's race still hasn't been uncovered or given a name - not in any spin-off novels, not anywhere - and that's because George Lucas knows (or knew at some point) that Yoda works as a character of mystery. If we go back in time to explore his youth and his childhood or his training, is it really bringing anything new to the franchise? How could it? Fans already have the information they want: nobody has ever said, "I want to find out even more about Yoda's origins," because they don't need to. It doesn't
feel like an element that's missing. I'll refer your attention back to the Yoda vs. Dooku fight. Cool at the time? Maybe. But now, when you think of that same green puppet in his little house, it seems so wrong that we should have ever been subjected to having seen Yoda like that. It was too much. And that's exactly what a spin-off would be: an excess with no reason for existing.
