Star Wars 9 Title: What Does 'The Rise Of Skywalker' Really Mean?

4. It Might Relate To Anakin's Creation

One of the more out-there theories posits that The Rise of Skywalker could in fact refer to the creation of Anakin Skywalker, who was of course immaculately conceived by his mother Shmi.

However, recent canonical comics have confirmed that Shmi became pregnant after Palpatine manipulated the Force, making Palpatine basically Anakin's father.

How exactly this would tie into the movie's plot remains to be seen - though an especially nutty fan theory posits that Rey will become Force-impregnated by Palpatine, who will then send Rey back in time to raise the baby, revealing that she was in fact Shmi the entire time.

Uh, no. There's no way that's happening. Even if you the ignore the bad look of Force-raping your much-loved female protagonist in a 2019 movie, just...no.

But it's definitely possible the film will explore the lineage of the Skywalker name and actually show how Palpatine pulled the strings to ensure Anakin's creation, and consequently not only Luke and Leia's birth, but also the existence of Kylo Ren. It sounds contrived as hell, but it's possible.
