Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Geek Actors Who Must Be Cast

1. Andy Serkis

andy serkis rise of the apesGeek Credentials: Andy Serkis' breakthrough role was as voicing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and from there he went on to become the worldwide figurehead, the go-to-guy for any performance capture roles going. He cemented this by using the method to play King Kong in Peter Jackson's remake, Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Captain Haddock in The Adventures of Tintin and Gollum in The Hobbit (the latter three franchises of which will be calling Serkis back for sequels). Who He Should Play: Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one, as would be the case with Andy Serkis being cast in Episode 7. Just think about it; though the producers insist that the film will be as practically-minded as possible, the inclusion of CGI creatures is inevitable, and to ensure fans aren't upset by this, why not bring in the most experienced mo-cap man in the business? In Lucas' prequel trilogy, most of the CGI aliens were relatively forgettable, lacking a personality or, moreover, being incredibly f***ing annoying. Serkis has such a knack for bring larger-than-life, otherworldly characters to life that if they fail to give him a call, I'm going to be questioning the integrity of the project from the get-go; he has to be in it.
